Martha's Loft:

This 100+ year old building has played several roles for the community since the 1800's. Originally constructed as the town's firehouse, it found itself serving as the borough's business offices and ambulance station. After purchasing the property, it sat idle for a number of years before being utilized as a body shop and storage facility. Local businessman Tod Warner saw the potential and, after years of contemplation, began its latest reconstruction to house an upscale loft residence.

The original structure was renovated, and an additional garage/patio space was added to the front. An extra bedroom and master bath were added in the rear.

This outstanding residence features an elegant elevator entrance that enters the main living level by way of an expansive living room. The main living area consists of a 24' x 36' living room, which greets guests with 12'+ high ceilings.

The kitchen is complete with cherry cabinets, commercial Jenn Aire appliances and historic-colored granite counters.

Passing the enclosed laundry area, the master bedroom opens to a substantial 16' x 19' floorspace. The master bedroom features a fireplace, 2 closets and a private entrance to the master bath area. Keeping with the era, correct fixtures and trim can be found throughout the structure.

The bath houses a cast iron clawfoot tub with chrome shower ring and exposed plumbing. The high tank water closet falls next to the built-in double seated shower, adding ease of access for showering. The vanity is a free-standing antique-style double bowl vanity with marble top.

Leaving the bath through another entrance leads to the guest bedroom, with an oversized closet and fold-away Murphy bed. This room leads past the enclosed laundry area and finishes back in the kitchen area.

Views of the current Borough building, Wilbur Street Park, the old Schwab School and a panoramic angle of the town are found on the elevated lanai. This outdoor space is wrapped in beveled cedar siding, and the flooring is granite-looking 2" solid patio blocks. Additionally, there is exterior lighting, cable, gas and built-in speakers to entertain guests. Custom wrought iron railing finishes the front of the area with solid walls on the sides for privacy.

Other notable items include Andersen tilt wash windows at a staggering 7'6" tall, finished off with 11" deep granite sills. Original trim was refinished to keep the feel of the time. A large fireplace, a hidden flatscreen TV, pre-wired electronics, and suround sound round out the living room.

The original whole house fan system has been refitted to supply air flow to each point of the main structure. Coal hot water heat will be delivered through refinished cast iron radiators.

Overall, this "new" home carries many details. Upscale and period-correct was the main focus, and all details of the home were kept within these guidelines.

Definitely worth a peek!
